Reelect Warmongers

(From April 10, 2012 blog post)

Harvard international relations professor Stephen Walt has this post on a confused Obama Administration on Iran. Walt states that, “If you’re the Obama administration, the last thing you want is a war. Certainly not before November, and maybe not ever. ”

Are you serious? Of course power-mad politicians such as Obama want to take the U.S. into yet another unnecessary, counter-productive war. Jeepers. And of course in an election year. These wars are what whips the masses into unconditionally obedient support of their Dear Leader, just as Americans acted following the 9/11 terrorist attacks as they unquestioningly believed everything that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld told them. As Bush the Younger said in 1999, starting a war would be good “political capital.”

And regarding wars and elections, in 1991, George H.W. Bush started his war on Iraq the year before his reelection bid, and 12 years later, his son George W. Bush started his war on Iraq in 2003 the year before his reelection bid. And while Bubba and Hillary were not running for reelection in 2000, one could make the case that there may have been Party-loyalty ulterior motives in Bill Clinton’s ethnic cleansing of Kosovo in 1999.

So far in the past year, Obama presented his made-up killing of Osama bin Laden, who probably had already died in the early 2000s. And then Obama assassinated Anwar al-Awlaki, and also helped NATO to bring down Muammar Gaddafi and bring Libya under Sharia Law, just as Bush Jr. turned Iraq into a Sharia Law theocracy. As Elizabeth Warren might say, “Well, good for them!”

Get the masses all whooped up, so they will reelect you.

And don’t forget Lyndon Johnson’s 1964 election year, in which he lied America into war in Vietnam, knowingly using the Gulf of Tonkin made-up attack that didn’t occur. 58,000 American soldiers were killed because of Johnson’s power-mad need to get elected (even though he would have won anyway, just as Obama will win anyway over fellow socialist warmonger Romney in a two-man race).

  One Response to “Reelect Warmongers”

  1. I don’t understand this warmongering mentality on the part of liberals and conservatives. Has our government become so overrun with corruption and greed that human life has become incidental, that if we have to kill a few million around the world to maintain our profligate life style, it’s o.k.
It’s not o.k., not for Obama and the Democrats or Romney and the Republicans. I’m getting to the point that I can’t stand either party. International war for the sake of profit and oil is wrong; it’s immoral, it’s frightening, and we need to do something to stop it. What’s wrong with our government?
