This month has been the deadliest for US troops in Afghanistan. I really don’t see the point to our continuing a war there. Have we reduced the threat by Al Qaeda against our country? It seems to me that, despite the war in Afghanistan for the last 7+ years now, Al Qaeda has strengthened elsewhere, and Afghanistan’s Taliban not only has strengthened in Afganistan but has spread to Pakistan. It appears that our military may be increasing troop levels in Afghanistan. Are we going to go to war in Pakistan, too? What about Iran? Not only are our soldiers’ lives in danger in

Afghanistan and elsewhere, but the brave reporters as well, such as Mandy Clark of CBS Noose, embedded in Afghanistan.

As I noted in my column, Was Preemptive War In Iraq Really a Good Idea?, since George W. Bush wouldn’t protect our borders, thus probably contributing greatly to the increase of Al Qaeda terrorists getting through our borders and increasing the number of  “sleeper cells,” which would obviously increase the chance of another 911-like attack in our country, then what good is putting more soldiers at risk in Afghanistan, or Pakistan, or any other foreign country? Are we in Afghanistan to get Al Qaeda, or engage in “nation-building?” (It seems to me that we’re still in Afghanistan for the purpose of “nation-building” and reconstruction.)
